What is the National Convention JCI France?
In France, JCI is known as the JCEF (the Jeune Chambre Économique Française), the national organisation of Junior Chamber International. The National Convention JCI France is its flagship springtime gathering, where members from every local chapter convene to train, network, elect their leadership for the year ahead, and recognise the projects that have made a difference in their communities. It is equal parts working assembly and reunion, and for many members it’s a highlight of the JCI France calendar.
When and where does the convention take place?
The 2026 convention runs from 28 to 31 May in Metz, a city in the Grand Est region known for being dynamic, international, and a little bold, fitting for a movement built on active citizenship. The host chapter has published an interactive map marking the main venues alongside recommended hotels, shown in the event’s signature garnet colour, to help delegates find their way around.
What happens at the convention?
While the detailed Metz programme is still taking shape, JCEF national conventions follow a familiar rhythm. Recent editions have featured round tables on themes like corporate social responsibility and civic engagement, hands-on training and skills workshops, and the popular Art Oratoire public-speaking contest. The schedule also includes the National General Assembly, board elections, and an awards ceremony honouring standout local actions alongside the conviviality of reconnecting with friends from chapters across the country.
How is this different from the JCI France National Congress in October?
JCI France holds two major national meetings each year, and they serve different purposes. The Metz convention in May is the spring assembly described here. Later in the year comes the National Congress, the movement’s larger autumn flagship, held from 29 October to 1 November 2026 in Laval (Mayenne) under the space-themed “COC’smonautes” banner.
If the May convention is the working heart of the year, the October congress is its celebration and a Belgian delegation is being organised to attend. Read the details on our JCI France National Congress 2026 event page.
Why does the national convention matter?
For a movement that runs on volunteers, the National Convention JCI France is more than a calendar fixture. It’s where skills get sharpened, where new projects find collaborators, and where the energy of the wider network refuels each local chapter. A weekend spent in workshops and conversations with hundreds of other young active citizens tends to send people home with ideas, contacts, and renewed motivation.
Who should attend?
Whether you’re a long-standing Jaycee or completely new to JCE France, the convention is built to be welcoming. Newer members get a fast introduction to how the national movement works, while experienced members come to grow as leaders. International guests from the wider JCI family are welcome too, making the National Convention JCI France in Metz a genuine meeting point.
