The non profit organization JCI Belgium makes every effort to respect your personal data and your privacy.

In this privacy statement, the non profit organization JCI Belgium aims to provide clear and transparent information about how we handle personal data. We do everything we can to safeguard your privacy and handle personal data with care, complying in all cases with the applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation.

We process your personal data in accordance with the purpose for which it was provided, as described in this privacy statement. The processing of your personal data is limited to only those data that are minimally necessary for the purposes for which they are processed.

We will always ask for your explicit consent if we need it to process your personal data. We have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of your personal data.

We will not pass on personal data to other parties, unless this is necessary for the purposes for which it was provided.

We are aware of your rights regarding your personal data and wish to inform you of these and respect them. As JCI Belgium, we are responsible for the processing of your personal data. Why do we process personal data?

The non profit organization JCI Belgium processes your data because you are a member of the non profit organization and/or because you have provided it to us yourself due to our legally defined powers and obligations. Your personal data is processed by the non profit organisation JCI Belgium for the following purposes and legal grounds:

To facilitate the activities of JCI Belgium and its local chapters so that all members, candidate members, senators, former members and interested parties can participate in the activities.

To send newsletters, invitations, etc.

For the above purposes, the following personal data about you will be processed:

  • Surname
  • First name
  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Address details
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • IP address
  • Other personal data that you actively provide, for example by registering for one of our training courses, in correspondence and telephone contacts.
  • Location data

We only use the data collected for the purposes for which we obtained it.

Provision of this personal data to third parties

We may provide the data you give us to third parties if this is necessary for the purposes described above. For example, we use a third party for:

  • Providing the internet environment (web host);
  • Providing IT infrastructure (including IT network, etc.);
  • Providing and distributing newsletters and invitations.

The non profit organization JCI Belgium does not sell your data to third parties and only provides it if this is necessary for the performance of our legal obligations and powers or in the context of your membership with JCI Vlaanderen vzw or JCI BWB vzw. We enter into a processing agreement with companies that process your data on our behalf to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data.

Furthermore, we will not pass on the data you provide to third parties unless this is legally required and permitted. We may also share personal data with third parties if you give us your consent to do so. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of the processing prior to its withdrawal. In any case, we do not provide personal data to parties located outside the European Union unless this is related to JCI activities.

Retention period

The non profit organization JCI Belgium retains personal data for as long as the persons for whom this data is kept are members of a local branch of JCI Belgium, or senators, and for a maximum period of 5 years after their membership, except in the case of senators who are members for life by operation of law. We have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unlawful processing. For example, we have taken the following measures:

  • All persons who may become aware of your data on behalf of the non profit organization JCI Belgium are bound to confidentiality.
  • We apply a username and password policy on all our systems.
  • We pseudonymise and encrypt personal data where necessary.
  • We make backups of personal data so that it can be restored in the event of physical or technical incidents.
  • We regularly test and evaluate our measures.
  • Our employees are informed about the importance of processing personal data.

Your rights regarding your data

You have the right to access, correct and/or delete the personal data we have received from you. You can contact us in this regard using the contact details above. The non profit organization JCI Belgium would like to point out to each member that they have their own profile that they can adjust themselves where necessary and for which the non profit organization JCI Belgium cannot be held responsible.

In addition, you may object to the processing of your personal data or part thereof by us or one of our processors. You also have the right to have the data you have provided transferred by us to yourself or, on your behalf, directly to another party. We may ask you to identify yourself before we can comply with the aforementioned requests. Requests will be processed within 30 days. Manifestly unfounded or excessive requests may be charged or refused.
